As an Information Technology Intern at the University of Calgary’s Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR), I collaborate with the Digital Infrastructure team to support and enhance the technological services within an academic research library environment. My role centers on providing user-focused IT support and developing technology solutions that facilitate learning, research, and professional activities.Key Responsibilities: - IT Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of student navigators, managing their schedules, tasks, and training to ensure effective technology support across the library. - Technical Support: Provide comprehensive IT assistance to LCR faculty and staff, addressing issues related to desktops, laptops, and mobile devices to optimize their daily operations. - Training Material Development: Design, develop, and maintain training materials for various library technologies, enhancing the technical proficiency of users. - Technology Recommendations and Training: Evaluate and recommend library technologies, offering training sessions to students, staff, and faculty to improve their technological engagement. - AI Integration: Explore and familiarize myself with AI tools, providing recommendations and training to integrate artificial intelligence solutions into library services. - Technology Lending Pool Enhancement: Utilize user feedback and industry trends to suggest improvements for the library’s technology lending resources.
