Volunteered as a docent/animal care giver at SEA Discovery Center (Formerly the Poulsbo Marine Science Center) for 6 years. Worked as the student lead for Triton Student Center Operations at Edmonds College where I also worked as a student mentor in the STEM division and a volunteer TA for the non-majors marine biology class. At Edmonds I also participated in 4 undergraduate research projects in biology: study of the effects of nicotine and caffeine on pill bugs, effectiveness of household cleaners against bacteria on different surface types, a survey of Snohomish and Kitsap County freshwater systems looking for sponge gemules and a brief study on the oxygen production comparisons between red and green algae. Outside of academics I have worked with several religious groups and bands for live sound and stage setting and worked as a shift lead for 2 years with a small pizzaria in Kingston WA all while persuing and finishing an A.S. in biology and before transferring to WWU to persue a B.S. in Marine and Coastal Science.
