Salary: 48k Desc: Small software specialty company (8 employees including myself), worked with an AS400/iSeries based Warehouse Management System specifically geared for Food Distribution Industry. 99% work from home position (telecommute), which means I connected via internet/Client Access v5r4, not only to our base machine located in Chicago, but also remotely connected using standard VPN to the customers' machines to diagnose software problems, rarely did I need more than the rudiments of information/help in setting up these connections . The clients were normally 24/7 operations and I was fielding support calls. Doing some maintenance programming in RPG III and ILE, also have a handle on the basics of warehouse management. The software is cutting edge in that it incorporates voice recognition technology in addition to RF barcode readers, although I have not worked very much with the voice recognition aspect of the software. Many administrative duties including setting up of users in the AS400 menu system, heavy support of A/R system, and backup support of A/P system. Gained experience in problem solving /debugging and analysis/research, by taking somewhat complex tasks and breaking it down into smaller and more managable tasks, largely unsupervised.

Responsible for communications between the corporate machines and approx. 50 remote AS400's located in various locations all over the US, which entailed after hours support/coordination to get problems/errors resolved.

Salary: 29.5k w/OT Desc: Started as night shift operator responsible for system backup of small "D" model AS400 w/reel to reel tape drive, approx. 30g storage, and all terminals connected via twin-axial cable. Also monitored batch processing & handled report distribution. Promoted to Operator/Programmer position, gaining thorough working knowledge of RPG/400 in an CA-PRMS (Pansophic) application environment. Some CL programming, and modifications to in-house developed reports. Was responsible for maintaining software on several PC's, as well as, working with end users of all systems. Responsible for installation/customization of a bar-code system utilizing time and attendance software and CA-PRMS PANSCAN software for gathering shop floor data fed directly to the AS400 for Inventory Management.
