Served as the Republican State Representative from Michigan's 36th House District, and formerly Michigan's 32nd House District from 2002-2009. Term-Limited at the end of 2008, after being elected to four terms in the House of Representatives. Served as Education Chair from 2002- 2006. Republican Nominee for US Congress in Michigan's 10th Congressional District in 1998, and was narrowly defeated by 23 year incumbent David Bonior, the US House Democratic Minority Whip.
