The Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute at UCSF supports all scientific investigations involving computational methods such as simulation, modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The institute represents a number of key areas in computational health sciences - spanning the spectrum of inquiry from biological mechanisms to clinical practice to population health. As a Computational Research Assistant, I work with Dr. Yulin Hswen on a project focused on uncovering potential biases in Chat GPT responses, particularly when race, sex, or sexual orientation are explicitly mentioned in user inputs. My key responsibilities include - Developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of ChatGPT responses using its API, proficiently organized in Microsoft Excel- Utilizing Jupyter Lab for advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, including Sentiment Analysis with Azure Machine Learning and VADER, LDA Analysis, and Stop Word Analysis- Generating word clouds, graphical representations, word frequencies, and identifying discrete non-overlapping words among referent groups to facilitate thorough analysis.I am committed to contributing to the advancement of fair and unbiased AI systems. My goal is to foster inclusivity and equality while ensuring that AI technologies are sensitive to and respectful of individual differences and diversities.

Analyzed potential policy solutions for immigration registry and wrote weekly reports directed toward a final policy paper presented to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, the program’s official commissioner.

During my time at the Wall Lab, I conducted experimental research on the relationship between socioeconomic factors and timely Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis in children. My work primarily revolved around conducting experimental research including data assembly, designing graphical representations, performing statistical analyses using Excel, and conducting t-tests to determine the significance of ASD and its time of diagnosis.

The youth advisory board provides youth voice and leadership in identifying and addressing the health and wellness topics most relevant to students in our community. My responsibilities included:- Facilitated workshops, fairs, and information sessions on health and wellness topics most relevant to the student body.- Organized a district-wide youth-led mental health forum, an open space for students to express their mental health concerns.

- Co-Founded the Student Advisory Committee, ensuring student voices are considered, acknowledged, and heard in AUSD district policy, curriculum, and direction- Represented around 10000 students and facilitated discussions on all sides of issues - Led the passage of a resolution in support of Senate Bill 14: Mental Health Days as excused absences for high school students. - Petitioned and collaborated with the Parents Teacher Student Association and Superintendent to restore full restore Encinal’s permanently-terminated library services.

The California Student Board Members Association (CSBMA) is a student-led organization of school-district student board members from across California that works together to better represent their constituents, allow for statewide youth advocacy, and provide support in the effort to expand student board members across the state. The Student Board Member Expansion Committee, also known as the Take a Seat Campaign, works on a local level to place students on their local Boards of Education through outreach and direct support of local students. This committee provides guidance to any student who participates in the Take a Seat Campaign with specific steps, resources, and other materials, working to make the process of integrating prospective student board members on their local Boards of Education as efficient as possible. In this capacity, I work to orient prospective student board members that are interested in being placed on their local Board of Education.
