At Wikoff Color I manage the analytical instrumentation lab. In this role, I work with the entire R&D team to plan and carry out analysis of various inks, coatings, and substrates. This exciting work lets me constantly take on new analytical challenges and develop new tactics for chemical and material analyses.In this role I've:• Managed our analytical chemistry lab and team• Overseen bringing numerous new analytical methods in-house, vastly expanding the lab’s capabilities including: proposition 65 testing, migration testing for food contact materials, APR recognition testing, EPA method 24, PFAS qualitative analysis, and analysis of competitor’s products• Recruited, trained, and managed a top-quality analytical chemist• Maintained instrumentation, reducing the need for costly service• Fostered a collaborative environment, leading to several valuable product developments• Developed a professional report template and written numerous technical reports for customer facing projects• Developed marketing material, costing, pricing, and offerings for selling analytical services directly to customers• Developed methods for GC-MS/MS, pyrolysis-GC-MS, GC-TCD, GPC, HPLC-UV, and HPLC-CAD• Additionally worked with ATR-FTIR, Rheometers, DSA goniometer, fadeometer, and weatherometer.

Worked as a field application scientist supporting ion chromatography, sample preparation, and discrete analyzer product lines. In this customer facing role, I trained scientists in Chromeleon and ion chromatography, showing them how to get the most out of their IC systems and how to produce quality results.

Worked as an FSE for Thermo Fisher. In this customer facing role, I had the pleasure of supporting researchers and analysts in the Great Lakes region by increasing their up-time through thorough maintenance, repairs, and training.I serviced Thermo's LC, GC/MS, and IC product lines.

Worked in the Kelly lab of GaTech's Chemistry and Biochemistry Department.-Towards discovering the function of SioQ, the enzyme was over-expressed and purified, its proposed substrated was synthesized, and colorimetric biological assays were developed.-To improve our understanding and ability to manipulate the biosynthesis of antibiotics, site-directed mutants of Thiostrepton A (a thiopeptide antibiotic) were prepared using lambda-RED recombination. Mutant fosmids were fermented out of a knock-out streptomyces strain, purified, and analyzed.

Worked in the Ghiladi lab of NCSU's Chemistry Department.-Synthesized several asymmetric porphyrin photosensitizers and tested their efficacy for antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation (aPDI) of pathogenic bacteria.-Collaborated to design and prepare many photosensitizer-cellulose nanocrystal conjugates. Tested the efficacy of these new materials for inactivation of diverse pathogenic bacterial species.-Collaborated in the preparation of viral nanoparticle photosensitizer conjugates.-Collaborated in the design and preparation of many photosensitizer-cellulose fibers, which were pressed into paper sheets. Characterized these new papers and developed methods for testing their ability to actively sterilize surfaces. The impressive efficacy of these materials give them great potential to reduce the transmission of hospital acquired infections and to save lives.
