Brad Copeland is president and founding partner of ICON, a global brand design consultancy headquartered in Atlanta. Copeland began 35 years ago, in 1981, when he started a design collaborative with David Cooper in a Midtown Atlanta warehouse. Since then, it’s evolved to become a full-service brand and digital design firm with clients among the most significant corporations, places and cultural institutions throughout the world. Rooted firmly in the disciplines of communications and design, Iconologic specializes in systems design and story telling and practices across a variety of media: print, digital, environments, and motion.Brad is among the world’s leading experts in brand and Olympic design. He created Atlanta's well know 5-A’s logo for its bid for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, Atlanta's winning bid book package and a served as the Design Director for the acclaimed “Look of the Games” for 1996 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As Look of the Games Advisor for the International Olympic Committee, Brad has guided the Olympic image for every Games since Atlanta in 1996, from Nagano to Sydney; Athens to Salt Lake; Torino to Beijing; Vancouver to London; Sochi to Rio. Brad and firm also designed the Look for the 2006 Torino Olympic Games, and Iconologic remains the only firm in the world to have designed the Look for two Olympic Games. Brad is helping the International Olympic Committee optimize the presentation of the Olympic brand in all its applications through the development of brand standards for the Olympic Rings.Brad is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and events; is a founding member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts; and was honored as an AIGA Fellow in 2007. He is a 1975 graduate of Auburn University and is married with three children.
