My role as Instructional Designer requires me to support best practice instructional design in Governance Institute courses and contribute to identifying and recommending learning methodologies and technologies to enhance the learning experience for students.

My role as a Learning Designer requires me to work collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and educators to design and develop learning content and activities to support learner outcomes. This role is pivotal in the success of the Chisholm Educational Plan as it supports the implementation of blended learning across the institute as part of a project team.Responsibilities: • Work with educators and SMEs to analyse current learning resources and program delivery and the key course outcomes for the redevelopment. • Design and develop engaging learning content using traditional and rapid e-Learning tools (Articulate 360, H5P, Vyond and Moodle tools). • Support and guide SMEs to ensure courses are set up in the most effective, engaging and pedagogical sound manner.Skills: • eLearning authoring tools: Articulate 360 (Rise 360 and Storyline 360), H5P and Moodle tools. • Adobe Creative Cloud: Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Audition (some experience with After Effects and Illustrator). • Animated videos: Vyond online animation software. • GIF creation: Using Vyond and Premiere Pro. • Videography: Writing scripts, storyboarding, multi-camera setups and post-production; editing, voiceover, titles, transitions and effects. • LMS: Moodle. • MS Office 365, Teams, SharePoint.

Training students on Defence systems, including Windows-based computers and networks, HF/VHF/UHF radios, satellite communications equipment and high-grade cryptographic devices. Develop courseware for new projects and make improvements to existing learning materials. Responsible for managing and leading teams of up to 16 people over a 7 month training period, conducting administrative duties and encouraging personal development. Responsibilities• Conduct regular testing on training systems, including LANs (Windows), laptops, narrowband radio and satellite communications equipment (voice and data), electronic cryptographic devices (KIV-7M, RASKL and SKL). • Modify learning materials including, lesson management guides, assessments, quizzes, workbooks and PowerPoint presentations.• Conduct presentations for professional development and team meetings Achievements• Developed Standard Operating Procedures for IT systems which improved training conditions for staff and students.• Successfully coordinated a weekly remedial instruction program for up to 60 students.• Improved staff and student well-being by organising monthly team sports.

I worked as an operator and help desk provider for the Defence Force’s primary communications station in Canberra. This rotating shift based role provided 24/7 communications support for Navy, Army and Air Force. I transitioned to Satellite Operations in 2012 where I gained valuable experience working with Defence contractors such as Optus, Iridium, INMARSAT and Boeing. Both roles allowed me to further develop my technical knowledge, leadership and customer service skills. Responsibilities• UHF payload manager for Optus C1 satellite; assign voice and data channels for Defence units and help desk support.• Activate sim cards for Iridium satellite communications equipment and investigate customers with high data usage to help minimise costs to Defence.• Conduct daily security procedures for classified material. Achievements• Earned promotion after successfully completing leadership training. • Delivered exceptional customer service to Defence personnel in an operational environment for communication service requests.

I worked in various roles on RAN ships throughout this period. This includes Level 1 and 2 IT help desk support, engineering radio circuits and stores person for all IT assets including consumables, software and hardware. Responsibilities• Provide IT support to ship’s crew; troubleshooting hardware and software issues, install desktop PC’s and peripherals, printer support and train personnel on Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and Military Messaging Software.• Conduct server shutdowns (including virtual servers) during routine maintenance and emergency power outages. Achievements• Successfully managed the IT stores department during a 6-month operational deployment in the Arabian Sea.
