Contractor's Representative (Project Director) on behalf of the Managing Contractor for the $2bn Future Submarine Construction Yard at Osborne, South Australia.The Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct (Future Submarine Program) (ONSP(FSP)) Infrastructure Development will provide the necessary build, test, and integration facilities (BTIFI) to design, produce and accept into service a fleet of future submarines (FSM). AIR5428 Pilot Training Facilities Project, RAAF Base East Sale, Pearce and GinGin ($330m). As Project Director (Contractor's Representative) on this fast track Air Force Capability Project, I was responsible for the success delivery of the works across three Air Force bases in Victoria (RAAF East Sale) and Western Australia (RAAF Pearce and RAAF GinGin). Works consist of new aircraft maintenance and storage facilities, classroom and learning environments including synthetic training facilities, working accommodation, airfield works, living in accommodation and associated infrastructure. Since being awarded the works in Sept 15 the project has achieved or exceeded all government approval, access and completion milestones as a result of an exceptional and deliberate approach to collaboration. Works completed ahead of program and delivered defect free.

Howard Springs Accommodation Village, Darwin, Nt

The Howard Springs Accommodation Village ($350m) in Darwin forms part of the $34bn Ichthys LNG Project. It now provides quality accommodation for personnel building the gas processing facilities at Bladin Point. Laing O’Rourke delivered this 3,500-bed establishment, which incorporates indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, an on-site facilities management complex and a medical centre for Ichthys’s workforce.As Project Leader – Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), I managed the project's extensive DfMA component, which saw accommodation modules manufactured in China and shipped to site in Darwin. I was responsible for the design, procurement, off-shore manufacture, delivery and handover of all accommodation modules (3,500 units). Key responsibilities included: recovery of programme delays; stakeholder consultation; design brief and reports; design verification; manufacture and approval of prototypes; concurrent procurement processes; value management; establishment and mobilisation of a team to China for oversight, including schedule management, quality control, compliance, interface with site, factory acceptance testing and handover documentation, including Manufacturers Data Records (MDRs).

The Battlefield Airlifter (BFA) Project will provide the necessary working, logistics, training, maintenance and technical base facilities to support the introduction of the Battlefield Airlifter (the C27J Spartan transport aircraft) at RAAF Base Amberley, west of Brisbane. As Planning Phase Manager, I reported directly to the Contractor’s Representative and was the secondary point of contact for Defence and the CA. I attended all client meetings and project forums, and managed deliverables and reporting throughout the Planning Phase. Driving a culture of collaboration across the full project team – including Defence, the CA, design consultants and key stakeholders – I established a valuable and enduring relationship that benefited the BFA Project.

Thomas & Coffey Limited is an ASX listed specialised industrial services company, constructing, engineering and maintaining Australia’s productive assets, with customers predominantly in the heavy industry, energy, resources, utilities, public infrastructure and defence sectors.I reported to the General Manager, National Construction Division, responsible for the business’s operations in the Queensland Region. The Queensland Region included business units in Brisbane, Townsville, Mackay and Darwin, delivering hard dollar and negotiated design and construction projects to strategic industry clients Macquarie Goodman, Queensland Rail, Energex, Carbon Energy, Spotless, Department of Defence, Orica, Dyno Nobel, Rio Tinto Coat Australia and BMA.My responsibilities included:• Developing key governance processes for tendering, procurement and project execution• Designing, developing and executing a new business plan, strategy and structure• Refocusing on profitable business units and developing competitor advantages• Extensive training, coaching, developing and mentoring of business managers.

I reported to the Managing Director and was a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. I was responsible for the construction operations nationally within the Construction Division, which included business units in four states – Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Western Australia – with a total turnover of $300m p.a.I provided strategic leadership to influence colleagues to produce their best performance during difficult trading times. I developed outstanding and profitable business relationships and managed business change. I developed intimate knowledge of the mining, resources, Defence, infrastructure and heavy industry sectors. I oversaw the business transformation programme, development and implementation of industry specialisation, risk management procedures, and the development and execution of the core business strategy for the Division.My in-depth understanding of Defence requirements ensured client expectations were delivered. This was instrumental in significantly increasing Thomas & Coffey's Queensland Defence business being responsible for over $240m of Defence works. Notable Defence projects include: the Physical Fitness Facility and MRTT Simulator Building at RAAF Amberley, the Ordnance Load Out Aprons at RAAF Williamstown and the Refuelling Facility at Oakey Army Air Base.
