As N & NW and Tasmania Practice Principal for Early Start Australia I have led change management across multiple sites, successfully growing the business through a process of stakeholder consultation, mapping, market evaluation and targeted project management. Managing an annual budget of $3.5 million with up to 22 FTE I grew this Statewide multi-disciplinary health practice from 3 to 12 disciplines with key responsibility for stakeholder engagement and management, recruitment and cross-disciplinary compliance.

In this role with Mouthworks Therapy Centre I applied project management methodologies and principles to establish a green field site for business expansion and business continuity, later purchased by Early Start Australia, developing new models of care and reporting systems across new markets. I was highly effective when building multiple income streams to spread business risk e.g. for NDIS, HCP, STRC, private insurance, subcontracting arrangements, Medicare. Role responsibilities included resource management, recruitment, onboarding and team professional development, planning and oversight of property fit out, and innovatively maintaining business viability during Covid pandemic.

During this time I fulfilled wide-ranging responsibilities for Tas Health Services with a team of up to 40 FTE across acute, subacute and community services with bases at North-West Regional Hospital, Devonport Community Health Centre and Mersey Community Hospital. Achievements included redesigning extended scope physiotherapy services to triage and manage orthopaedic waiting lists to optimise non-surgical, pre-surgical and post-surgical care; reinvigorating workforce recruitment strategies by introducing and evaluating a multi-layered student placement program; liaising and partnering with Primary Health services to deliver consumer demand led therapy to rural and remote areas such as King Island and the West Coast; provided guidance to implement best practice multidisciplinary models of care in the reform of the Mersey Community Hospital; analysing key gaps of in-service provision against national benchmarks and piloted a weekend advanced physiotherapy project aimed at improving outcomes.

I held dual responsibilities in this role: as Senior Physiotherapist I delivered best practice care services to clients presenting to the Emergency Department, and physiotherapy and multidisciplinary pre/post and inpatient care for orthopaedic inpatients; as Allied Health Project Officer I reported directly to the Director of Allied Health. Working on over 15 projects in the immediate pre-commissioning period of a new 304 bed hospital e.g. commissioning of Audiology services, equipment, rostering, training, transition programs, models of care, I facilitated the transfer of the entire Allied Health team to the newly commissioned public/ private hospital including brokering staff contracts.
