I grew up liking chemistry, but studied to be an engineer because I wanted to learn "how stuff works" and liked problem-solving. I was introduced to topics on materials and specialized my education in this area by getting a Masters and PhD degree at Penn State. Somewhere along the way developed a passion for sustainability, and discovered wood products to be at the convergence of those two interests. As our societal focus on environmental issues heightens, I am more and more convinced that wood products can be an answer to the challenges we face.As passionate as I am about sustainability, I've never lost that desire to understand how things work and solve problems. That has driven me to seek solutions in a variety of areas, from industry related topics like Standards and Codes to workplace challenges like connectivity and productivity. I've found that being curious and looking for improvements can make a difference for everyone.I abide by the motto "Work hard and be nice to people". This helps fuel my daily commitment to excellence and treating others with kindness.
