I'm currently a Senior Hydro-Meteorological Technician at the National Weather Service Forecast Office (WFO) in Indianapolis, IN where I've worked since April of 2008. My career began immediately after high school as a Weather Observer with a private company and as a Volunteer at the National Weather Service Office (WSO) in Toledo, OH in the late '80s and first half of the 1990's. Concurrently, I initiated the start up of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), completed courses from both Mississippi State University (MSU) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Emergency Management Institute, and worked for the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. My first job with the National Weather Service (NWS) came in 1994 at WFO Indianapolis as a Meteorological Technician, where I proudly accepted a Special Service Award and wrote my his first co-authored paper. In 1996 I transferred to WSO South Bend, IN. Following the spin-down of the WSO in 1997, employment through 2004 was as a Weather Observer with private industry. During this time I took additional courses from MSU, including an internship at NBC affiliate WNDU-TV in South Bend. In 2004, I rejoined the NWS as a Meteorological Technician at WSO Barrow, Alaska. During this time I served on a regional team for the Systems Integration Plan and received team Regional and National Isaac Cline Awards. I have been a member of the AMS since 1990 and was a member of the NWA 1999 to 2017. I'm currently the President of the Indiana Chapter of the AMS. In the NWA: Associate Editor of the National Weather Digest, 2002 to 2007; Committee Member of the Awards Committee, 2004 to 2009; Committee member and a webmaster of the Home Page Advisory Committee...then committee member, a webmaster, and Chair of the Information Technology Committee, covering a span altogether from March 2004 to December 2015; provided NWA Annual Meeting support for the 33rd through 38th Annual Meetings (2008 to 2013).
