About Brad Hillier
I’ve spent most of my working career on the civil structural side of engineering and design, with the last 5-6 years working mainly on-site overseeing construction or with Commissioning and Start-up as a structural specialist. From this experience I have come to appreciate that no job is too big or to small if the people working on it don’t appreciate the task involved or feel rewarded for the work they do. Whether it is being lead on the design side for a billion dollar project or working on site to ensure jobs are completed on schedule and on budget, one of the main issues I found that limits a project’s success was communication. People need to know what is going on and when deliverable s are due: an informed team is a productive team. Positions I’ve held include design lead, civil lead, project coordinator, building specialist for commissioning and start-up, RFI and DCN coordinator and cross shift for the engineering manager on site. My professional experience is diverse, having spent a large portion of it in the office using AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D, PDS and the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point. I’ve also completed various safety training related courses to work on site locations (see below). Project costs have ranged from $50k up to $10B+ and project scope has varied from gas meter station tie-in, foundations for strip malls, up to upgraders and floating production storage and offloading facilities (FPSO). I enjoy work and can be just as comfortable sitting in an office as I can working remotely on site, so travel is not an issue. My experience is varied and I’m always open to new challenges and welcome the opportunity to discuss your potential position with you at your convenience.
