One Year TLA -- Principal DevOps Engineer for Azure based Application Services and Infrastructure, supporting a 15 member development team through project milestone.

As a DevOps Consultant, I provided technical expertise and consultation to our customers and project teams, including: designing, developing, implementing and documenting complex automated development infrastructures. (i.e. build automation, deployment automation, test environments, development environments). Leveraging both AWS and Azure clouds, I used Chef/Puppet/Ansible as well as Terraform, and CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code and dynamic provisioning. Extensive Jenkins pipeline automation and orchestration.

Bringing a passion to stay on top of latest tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community, I planned, implemented and supported core infrastructure with an overall objective to improve the scalability, reliability, performance, and availability of the openapi.starbucks.com platform. I also, designed, developed, documented and deployed Build Engineering and Release Pipeline automation using GIT/VSTS, Jenkins, and Chef. Ensuring timely build refreshes into production while also ensuring system performance, uptime and support levels meet or exceeded SLAs. Worked closely with architects and engineers to design networks, systems, and environment that effectively met business needs, security, and SLA requirements.

In this position I contributed to Starbucks success by building out automation to provision and configure development and test environments for starbucks.com and the digital API team. I also developed automated testing and validation, identifying errors and issues to resolution. Coordinate and communicate with developers, project managers, QA, and infrastructure team for delivery into production.

As a Service Engineer in the Windows product team, I provided Service Design and Operational best practices into several key backend systems, including: Data Intelligence, Anti-Abuse, IP-Rep, Safe links, Family Safety, Anti-Spam & HIP/Captcha Platforms, (elements of LiveID, Microsoft Account, Hotmail, Internet Explorer), among others. During my time with this team, I was able to reduce server footprint and operational overhead significantly by working with engineering to correct several long standing operational inefficiencies in production. Through streamlining processing and operational overhead, in time, I was able to increase the scope of my application portfolio by over 300% and increase processing efficiencies by over 1000% in several instances.

Provided deployment and operations support for mission critical systems supporting shipping container & terminal operations throughout the Pacific Rim & West Coast US facilities. My role encompassed integrating gate security systems, OCR, radiation detection and other security monitoring directly with TSA/Customs systems, as well as Application Support for our custom software we developed for Terminal Operations, ship & yard planning. Also responsible for operations for over 35 public partner websites running ASP.NET & Java applications on Jboss and Tomcat platforms in a WLBS / IIS6 based environment.
