Growing up in rural Kansas, I had the opportunity to meet, work for, and be related to many business owners with a relentless work ethic. As I got older, I noticed they were continuing to work as hard as ever, but their bottom line never seemed to increase. I thought to myself “there has to be a better way”. This thought is one of that has driven my passion for operational excellence and efficiency. My time serving in the United State Air Force taught me discipline. From there, I moved to into an insurance sales role with an industry leading internal marketing organization which brought knowledge and skills in the art of thinking quickly on my feet. As my career aspirations changed, I went to work for one of the largest health care systems in central Kansas, I honed my skills with people and performance management, thriving in a fast-paced, “few hands-on deck” setting and brought outside-the-box solutions to everyday struggles and frustrations.I am also a small business owner, operating my own real-estate investment company. This allows me real life experience and exposure to the challenges and opportunities that entrepreneurs deal with on a daily basis. I practice what I preach, and I feel there is real value is “doing” and not just “coaching”.In my current role as Vice President of Human Resources and Practice Development with Gradient Financial Group, I manage a team of experts who know how to identify the wrong way of doing things, and train-to-execute the right way. To this role, I bring not only 20 years of experience in the human resources and management field but also the necessary education components to grow my team and the professionals we work with, including a Masters Degree in Administrative Criminal Justice, and an MBA with emphasis in Human Resources and the PHR and SHRM-CP designations.At the core, I am a proud dad and a loving husband. My wife and I have been married for over 20 years and we have been blessed with three children who teach us new things every day. My personal and professional experiences and opportunities allow me to provide a unique perspective to all business models is all stages of growth.
