Nininsaan is a national tribal nonprofit, with a 501c3, created to: Collaborate and assist with securing grants funding in the support of indigenous programs; gather and disseminate environmental information; work in partnership with other non-profits; coordinate with federal, state, international and non-governmental agencies assisting with indigenous based projects; work together with national native organizations regarding tribal environmental, cultural concerns; assist indigenous populations with securing funding to support drinking water and wastewater needs; document global climate change regarding indigenous peoples, cultural uses, and continued support of indigenous cultural ways of life.

Participate in planning meetings. Work independently when possible to help create new exhibit concept and thesis, storyline, artifact selection, label copy and text for catalog. Work with exhibit designers to determine placement of objects and label copy within exhibit. Assist in creating language that can be used in exhibit catalogues, gallery guides, curriculum materials, news releases and articles. Provide guidance and share knowledge with new and existing staff assigned to work on the exhibit. Lend expertise to other projects as needed. Create a Northern California Native network to assist educating staff in understanding artifacts and their cultural uses. Created object for the permanent collection of the Southwest Museum of the American Indian.

Assist with the care of 3.8 million objects within the Hearst Museum Collections. Foster and maintain mutually beneficial programmatic relationships between the Museum and Tribes. Maintain relationships with individuals, and campus organizations. Conduct outreach presentations and workshops. Assist with management and access of over 750,000 objects from North American Native people. Prepare written materials to ensure a high level of communication with Tribes is developed and integrated within museum activities. Identify communication needs and develop corresponding informational materials. Represent the museum on highly controversial and complex issues, explain policy, develop support for decisions and work with others in collaborative actions, concepts and approaches.
