Coal Mining (Long Service Leave Funding) Corporation (LSL) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established to regulate and manage long service leave entitlements on behalf of eligible employees of the black coal mining industry. It operates the portable, national long service leave scheme and has serviced the industry as a government entity for over 25 years.With over $1.5 billion in funds under management, Coal LSL is responsible for delivering on the Corporations purpose of collecting levies, the investment of those funds, and proper reimbursement of employers as defined under the legislation.

Yancoal Australia Ltd (Yancoal) is Australia's largest pure-coal producer. Operating five mines and managing five others across New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, Yancoal also has a ~50% share in the Middlemount joint venture. Yancoal employed approximately 3,000 people, sourcing the majority of its people from the local communities in which it operates. This role was responsible responsible for providing strategic leadership for all People and Safety matters across the Yancoal Group to facilitate the safety of and most effective use of human resources.

This role is accountable for HR,IR, HSE, IT, Corp Comms across the group.

The core purpose of this role was to ensure the effective, efficient and strategic management of the Corporation’s operations encompassing: 1. Health & Safety;2. Human Resource Management;3. Industrial Relations;4. Payroll;5. the Environment;6. Risk;7. Quality;8. Information Communication & Technology and 9. Land & Property. I worked in the electricity industry for twelve years. During this time I held a variety of human resource and managerial roles within Stanwell. The Health and Safety of our people was a major consideration for me and I actively sought ways to improve this element of the business. I had a broad portfolio which encompassed all aspects of the business. This provided me a good perspective on Operational, Development and Financial matters within the business.I have worked in all aspects of Human Resource Management. I have experienced life as a front line manager in the electricity industry as well as frequent stints as the Power Station Manager. As part of the executive team I interacted with the CEO and other Senior Executives to align people strategies to the short and long term business objectives. I have an excellent understanding and proven track record for the requirement for exceptional Stakeholder Relations with Shareholding Ministers, Senior Government staff, Boards, Unions and Employees.

The core purpose of this role is to interact closely with the CEO and Senior Executive team to align HR, IR, Training and Development strategies to the short and long term goals of the business. This includes liaising with senior Government staff and Stanwell’s Board to ensure compliance with Shareholding Minister directions. This involves delivering results to develop, implement and administrate employee relations policies and procedures to ensure that suitably qualified employees are acquired, developed and appropriately remunerated to meet the human resources needs and objectives of the Corporation given the variety of geographical locations and diverse work cultures.
