Brad Samuelson was born and raised in Merced, California where his family operated a seed and grain business. He followed his dream to play college soccer to Sonoma State University and later attended the University of San Francisco where he obtained a Master of Science in Environmental Management.His professional career began at UC Merced where he was promoted to Director of Environmental Planning. His success at UC Merced culminated in 2010 when the University obtained the land use entitlements necessary to build-out the 815-acre UC Merced Campus and 2,000-acre University Community. These entitlements required compliance with both Federal and California laws and regulations, including the US Clean Water Act, US Endangered Species Act, California Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, California Porter-Cologne Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act.In 2010 Brad became the General Manager of a large family farming business primarily located in Merced, Madera, and Fresno Counties. He was responsible for a multi-million dollar annual budget of and over 100 employees. His work also included maintaining environmental compliance for 8 dairies, negotiating and providing due diligence for dozens of real estate transactions, and securing water.For the last three years he has been immersed in helping the agricultural communities throughout California for the implementation of SGMA by preparing Conceptual Water Supply Evaluations, forming mutual water companies and California Special Districts, conceptualizing groudwater recharge basins, as well as actively representing his client’s interests by either forming or joining Groundwater Sustainability Agencies.Brad and his partner, Chase Hurley, started Water & Land Solutions, LLC to bring innovative services to the Ag community including, but not limited to: 1. groundwater banking2. data management3. water planning4. due diligence 5. water transfers6.
