The skilled trades are vital to a prosperous economic future in Nova Scotia. The Mainland NS Building Trades Council’s mandate is provide highly skilled industrial trades people, to promote and develop business for its members, and to provide a united, powerful voice to issues affecting the trades. My role is to lead the organization through a period of immense change and challenge, building and developing strong relationships in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. I work closely with our members to identify and act on concerns and emergent issues, and to ensure that the organization becomes synonymous with sound investment and growth across our province.

Worked with owners and managers to consult, train, and coach business development teams to help them achieve their business growth objectives.• Received multiple awards in recognition for successful relationships with a diverse base of local, regional and national clients.

Responsible for leading the public-private business development teams responsible for investor relations, business retention and expansion, and investment attraction for one of North America’s most dynamic and effective economic growth organizations.• Change agent responsible for shifting GHP’s focus from a traditional economic marketing and research agency to a client-centric development organization.• Launched the SmartBusiness business retention and expansion (BRE) program from concept to full execution, working closely with a group of 25 senior business executives and government officials. Halifax’s BRE program was recognized by Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) as a best-in-class large-community program.
