I am forever grateful for the extra 25+ years me and my family were given with my grandfather after he received a heart transplant. This has given me the motivation to be more involved in an initiative regarding Organ Transplant. We all have it in us to give families the gift of time, as mine was given. I am very excited to be a part of this new venture with an amazing team. I was born and raised in London, Ontario where I also received a B.E.Sc. From the University of Western. I am an Electrical Engineer and Principal at Smith + Andersen. I have always been involved in athletics and thrive on pushing and challenging myself. Most importantly I am a father of four and husband (….to one), which has allowed me to master the art of patience and selective hearing.

Responsible for managing, motivating, and leading the electrical team of 6 staff members that include designers, EITs, and electrical engineers. Supervising the productivity of the electrical team to ensure a quality product is provided to our clients. Completing electrical team evaluations, conducting annual reviews, and negotiating salaries within department budget.Responsible for managing projects and respective design teams to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and to ensure the clients are satisfied. Use client focused strategies to build and maintain relationships with clients. Write proposal documents and fee estimates for projects of varying scope.Responsible for designing, reviewing, and sealing electrical building system designs and specifications. Conduct electrical building condition asessments and perform feasibility studies for existing building systems and components. Responsible for assuring projects are constructed according to the design drawings and applicable codes by making field reviews, reviewing equipment shop drawings, issuing design clarifications, and responding to contractors queries.

RELATED EXPERIENCEA wide range of project experience including renovations, additions, new systemsdesign and project management. Building types have included institutional, industrial,commercial, educational, and residential.Design of electrical systems include high and low voltage electrical services,emergency generator, UPS systems, power and control provisions for mechanicalsystems, provisions for industrial and manufacturing equipment, power for patient careareas. Design of lighting systems include interior lighting layouts, occupancy controllighting systems, daylight savings systems, exterior lighting, parking lot lighting,emergency lighting, and retrofit designs. Design of electrical systems include firealarm, nurse call, security access, closed circuit television, structured cabling for voice& data, cable television and paging/intercom.Design of mechanical systems include HVAC design, plumbing design, and fireprotection layouts. Design of HVAC systems that include, split systems, roof top unitaryunits, energy recovery ventilators, make-up air units, in-floor heating, boiler systems,and heat pumps. Plumbing systems include domestic hot and cold water, boiler/waterheater sizing, sanitary piping, and fixture selections.
