Legal Aid Alberta (LAA) is a not-for-profit organization that assists Albertans facing legal issues by helping them navigate through the justice system to find lasting resolution to their legal challenges. As Director of Information Technology, I am responsible for strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of all information and technology systems, while ensuring alignment and integration of IT with the overall vision, mission and values of LAA.Key aspects of this role include: • Develop, coordinate, guide and maintain IT strategic and operational plans in support of the overall mission and business strategy. • Ensure the continuous delivery and operation of integrated corporate information systems.• Key role in policy and decision making at LAA regarding resource allocation and future direction and control of proposed information systems.• Responsible for the recruitment, development, motivation and retention of assigned management staff conforming to budgetary objectives and personnel policies. • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture, including related information, technical, communications and security architectures.• Approve, coordinate and control all projects related to selection, acquisition, development, installation, training, and operational support of major information systems. • Act as the Legal Aid Alberta Ministry Information Security Officer (MISO) for the Government of Alberta.• Develop and maintain the annual operating and capital budgets for LAA information and technology systems operations.• Promote and oversee relationship between business/IT resources and external entities. • Maintain knowledge of current technology, equipment, prices and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels.

Provides a single point of contact to Service Alberta for support and guidance of IT business needs focusing on helping clients define and execute their business vision and strategic/tactical plans. An established leader with a proven ability to lead major multi-million dollar modernization initiatives such as Motor Vehicles and Land Titles re-platforming projects from a mainframe to client server architecture as well as data center application migrations.
