I managed the mechanical engineering group and direct a staff of over 28 Engineers and Designers. I was Professional Engineer in responsible charge of the following projects: Ventura, CA. 310,000 sq ft replacement hospital including patient rooms, LDRP suite with delivery rooms, prep/hold and a recovery unit. Harbor City, CA. This work consists of 3 projects totaling 330,000 sq ft. The MOB facility has patient rooms which will be converted to doctors suites. The hospital included patient rooms, triage suite, ICU suite, imaging suite and a complete emergency department. Central plant included new chillers and boilers. Goleta, CA. 200,000 sq ft replacement hospital with an emergency department, imaging, operating rooms, patient rooms, kitchen/dining and a new central plant (steam boilers, steam source heating hot water, centrifugal water cooled chillers, medical air and vac, steam fired potable water).Watertown, NY. 135,000 sq ft addition with operating rooms, prep hold, recovery area, X-ray/CT scan, patient rooms, ICU suite and a kitchen/dining area. Wallkill, NY. 550,000 sq ft greenfield hospital including all typical departments and a new central plant with steam boilers, steam heating hot water, centrifugal water cooled chillers, etc. Upland, CA. 175,000 sq ft hospital addition with an emergency department, one floor of ICU beds, and two floors of patient rooms Chico, CA. 190,000 sq ft 4 story addition and 28,000 sq ft of remodel with operating rooms, patient accommodations, a new emergency department and a new central plant. Cottonwood, AZ. 100,000 sq ft major addition and 62,000 sq ft of remodel. Chambersburgh, PA. 150,000 sq ft major addition.

I was involved in the following projects:Eli Lilly & Co., N. Carolina and Puerto Rico. Mechanical Lead for 60,000 sq. ft. final formulation and capsule filling facility. Facility was constructed in modular form in the U.S. and shipped by barge to Puerto Rico where it was reassembled and combined with a stick built new central Plant section. Building production area was maintained at 30% RH. Genzyme, Inc., Geel Belgium - Mechanical Lead for remodeled 100,000 square foot bulk human biotech production facility. Genzyme, Inc., Boston, MA - Mechanical Lead for new 250,000 square foot multi-floor, multi-product bulk human biotech production facility. Genentech Inc., South San Francisco, CA - Mechanical Lead for retrofit of clean room fill/finish facility for this biotech company.AMGEN, Louisville, KY - Mechanical Lead for warehouse remodel project involving FDA temperature controlled storage areas (room temperature, cold room and freezer). Wyeth BioPharma, Andover, MA - Mechanical Sublead for warehouse remodel project involving QC sampling areas, FDA “room temperature storage” areas, and “Just-In-Time” warehouse space. Wyeth BioPharma, Andover, MA - Mechanical Sublead for design of a 240,000 sq. ft. multi-floor human biotech production facility.

Facilities Engineer for a human health biotech company. Managed maintenance and metrology as well as designed facilities upgrades to comply with FDA and EC guidelines.Involved in the purchase and installation of new isolation cabinets for production of small-scale human parenteral products.

Senior Project Engineer responsible for all remodeling and new construction including construction management of $25MM of new production labs with active pressure control. New Bio Safety Level 3 and 2 Class 10,000 facilities (BL3 and BL2) for production of deadly human pathogens. Updated and installed DI water systems, USP water systems, ultra filtered water systems. Also provided on-site construction management, troubleshooting, HVAC air and waterside test and balance for 72-room QC facility and BL3/BL2 production facility. This included HVAC Validation and Commissioning Groups on the above projects.

Designed Pharmaceutical facilities including solid dosing, Parenterals, liquid filling, BL2 and BL3 facilities. Also, as a field engineer, I commissioned several installations and completed airflow test and balance. Bayer, Kansas City, MO – Design of multi room lab facility for animal pharmaceutical product development, Remodel of existing animal pharmaceutical production facility, Testing of multi-room animal QC testing facility. Fermenta Animal Health, St. Joe, MO - On-site systems analysis of existing HVAC systems, involved recommendations for upgrade and modifications to ensure compliance with federal airflow and cleanliness guidelines. T. J. Lipton, Kansas City, MO - Designed a new dust collection and odor control system for a garlic processing facility. Also designed a new environmental control system and dust collection system for the instant tea processing facility at the Kansas City plant.
