Why are some people more energized than others? 4. How can you be so focused that you feel like you have a newfound purpose for your life and career?My books, articles and talks answer these questions in thought provoking and entertaining ways. This book puts the reader right into the action of the life-and-death decisions made by early explorers. Book 2 is AUDACIOUS GOALS, REMARKABLE RESULTS: How an Explorer, an Engineer and a Statesman Shaped our Modern World. It focuses on six epic achievements made by three extraordinary people: Teddy Roosevelt (builder of the Panama Canal and national parks), the great Victorian-era engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen.My most recent book is IT TAKES TWO OR THREE - THE SUPERPOWER OF SMALL TEAMS.With 15 years of experience advising SAP and Oracle clients on decision making, I bring real-world acumen to my writing and talks. I have travelled to all seven continents, including twice to Antarctica. I have given motivational talks at corporate events as well as on an Antarctic ship as it traversed the rough seas of the Drake Passage (not an experience I’d recommend), on cable TV in the US, and as a guest on a variety of podcast and internet radio programs. Originally from America, I have been based in London for many years, though have not lost my US accent. I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Vice Chair of the Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute, and a member of the Society of Authors.Looking forward to connecting with you.

CurrentI have co-authored four books. The first is titled: "When Your Life Depends on It: Extreme Decision Making Lessons from the Antarctic". It focuses on the life-and-death decisions made by early Antarctic explorers. The book reveals lessons in leadership, team work, and sheer grit and determination that can help all of us make better decisions. The book is listed in the Top 100 Best Decision Making Books of All Time. It also won 1st Place in the Chanticleer International Book Awards for Insightful Non-Fiction.The second book was launched in 2021. It is called, "Audacious Goals, Remarkable Results: How an Explorer, an Engineer and a Statesman shaped our Modern World." It describes how 6 larger-than-life achievements (one of which is the Panama Canal) were made possible by 3 extraordinary people, Roald Amundsen, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and Theodore Roosevelt. The book reveals the secrets of epic achievement. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the greatest living explorer, endorsed the book, saying it was "Gripping, exhilarating and inspiring."The third and fourth books, 'Dynamic Alignment', and 'It Takes Two or Three - The Superpower of Small Teams' were published in 2024.I have presented at business and Antarctic conferences in Norway, Ireland and the UK and appeared on cable TV in the US, and on numerous podcast interview shows. I also have given keynote presentations at conferences, literary festivals and have given a lecture on an Antarctic cruise ship.
