Digital StrategistOrganizing For Action Mar 2013 - Jan 2014When the Obama campaign ended everyone wanted to know what would become of volunteer, digital, and tech structure that was built. Organizing for Action is that answer and I am proud to have helped transition they campaign properties to a grassroots organization. There have been so many questions, tech nuances, legal decisions being a new entity, and tough realities being a start up organization building itself from the grassroots movement created around the campaign. As the organization's digital strategist I've been able to dig in on complex questions, look at data, resources, and capacity and make decisions based on organization goals. Some of the complex questions and projects I've been a part of: Rethink our 50 state digital programOne of the great secret programs I helped oversee on the Obama campaign was a true 50 state digital presence. This included Twitter and Facebook presences many of which on their own are larger than other NGOs. We would now need to figure out how to train new volunteers and staff to operate robust programs themselves while running not missing a beat. Creating goal based plans for campaigns around complex issues such as Gun Violence Prevention and Immigration Reform inside of a multi-issue organization. What does a signature on a petition mean? How do you get supporters to chronicle a day in a way that is effective? How do you create media worthy campaigns? These are questions we've been answering. Develop new tacticsNo organization can just do the same thing over and over around the same campaign. I've been a leader in our incubation team thinking through how do you evolve out reach via photos, video, social media and other means to impact conversation. How do you trend on social media? I've got answers.Vendor relationships and organizational partnerships for OFA. Great campaigns use great technology and do it with great partners. I've helped oversee both. -
