I’ve been successful with variations of this approach, most notably leading a supply chain team that conducted 100’s of workshops to generate 1,000’s of ideas and save over $200MM.Having led many Target Costing projects and trained ~200 engineers in Target Costing methods, I helped a Fortune 500 company drive Target Cost achievement coverage to 88% of $1B product cost portfolio within 2 years, significantly improving gross margin. Many of the methods are described in a book I co-authored, titled Target Costing: Market-Driven Product Design.
