I ran a creative shop of ten employees within University Communications where we handled a wide variety of projects, including: creating and launching a highly successful line of vintage UVA clothing, national brand advertising for both UVA and Virginia Football, environmental installations, documentary short films, photo essays, editorial design and countless identity and design projects for stakeholders across the University.

During this time I freelanced for a variety of agencies including DDB, Y&R and The Distillery Project. Clients included: Caterpillar, Jeep, Whirlpool, Corona Extra and Hickory Farms.

During this freelance period, I also directed a variety of commercials and videos for Dictionary Films. Clients included: Stella Artois, Kraft, Options-Free and Cars.com.

Joining this small, very creative shop as it was just building steam, I was able to oversee design-related projects and the art direction of many of our campaigns. A lot of the work here was project-based, and it was always a fun challenge to come in and do something different to help a brand stand out. I also directed a lot of out own commercials and content. Clients included: KIND Snacks, Can-Am Spyder, Whole Foods Market, Wheat Thins, Claussen Pickles, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, OfficeMax, Lunchables, Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Herculiner.

I worked in the Design Group on projects ranging from branding to art directing campaigns. Clients included: Coors/Coors Light, KFC and Discover Card in addition to a lot of internal branding.

I designed movie posters and DVD covers (you remember DVDs). I art directed a photo shoot with Kevin Smith and he ended up thanking us on the Tonight Show, which was pretty cool. Clients included: Artisan, Columbia, Universal, Lion’s Gate, New Line, Paramount, Blockbuster, Fox Sports Networks and USA Network.

The great thing about working at Planet Propaganda, was I inherently understood the clients – I was already a customer. Clients included: Prince Tennis, Nordica Ski, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, Polaris, the Wisconsin Film Festival and the University of Wisconsin.
