Provo, Ut And Seattle, Wa, Us
My responsibilities include running sales analytics and insights, managing revenue data strategy and reporting, partnering with systems and engineering teams to keep our data in check, executing on data-heavy sales operations, and managing the best team out there.

I led an advanced analytics team that had to have the highest (ability to make an impact) / (years of experience) ratio in the world. My team was made up primarily of recent college graduates with technical and analytical academic backgrounds.Together, the eight of us conducted research and built models with the goal of (1) optimizing the sales rep lifecycle, from setting data-driven onboarding targets, to alerting leadership when reps show signs of leaving the company, (2) perfecting the way we prioritize our efforts with different customers and prospects, (3) developing data-driven compensation models that empower individual reps to be successful AND allow the company to reach its goals, (4) positioning Qualtrics as the market leader in specific industries, such as Healthcare and Government, (5) forecasting in a way that allows us to consistently hit our financial goals, (6) building the best possible sales territories for our reps, and (7) guiding the tactical elements of sales process, from removing friction within our systems, to giving the right discount, to maintaining a high level of satisfaction from our sales support teams.

After spending a year intensely focused on territory design and account deployment, Qualtrics decided to create the first true data science position in Sales Operations for me. This gave me the opportunity increase the breadth of my impact as an individual contributor, and to begin leading a small team. While I still owned and maintained the models used in territory design, I conducted research, automated data procedures, and built models to inform our Pricing, Forecasting, Customer Success, and SAP Integrations initiatives. The highlights included (1) optimizing discounts on individual deals, (2) building ETL pipelines to sync Qualtrics and SAP systems, developing an intelligent, but actionable forecasting system that would not only tell us whether we would hit quota, but also give recommendations as to how we could most effectively increase our chances, and (4) partnering with our Customer Success organization to develop a product-usage based early warning system to identify at-risk renewals, especially among smaller customers that didn't typically receive as much attention.During this time, I also received my first three direct reports, who helped with these initiatives and others.

In my first data science position at Qualtrics, my core responsibility was to work with our GTM strategy team to optimize the way we assigned accounts to sales reps. During this time, the Sales organization grew dramatically, which required us to create a more scalable way to assign a rep to each of our customers and prospects. This required a series of Machine Learning models that predicted various account performance metrics (e.g. how much would they spend? how likely is it that we'll be able to create an opportunity if we prospect into this account?). We used the output of these models to create territories that (1) gave each rep a fair chance to hit quota, (2) allowed them to give the right level of support to existing customers, and (3) gave them a few chances beyond their years of experience in order to stimulate personal development.Along with this core responsibilities, I continued to leverage my previous experience and increased technical skill to continually improve the way we forecasted, managed rep performance, and ran exciting and high-ROI sales competitions.

During my first full-time role, I owned a large portion of the core sales reporting at Qualtrics. The objective of these reports was to forecast quarterly business outcomes, effectively manage sales rep behavior and performance, and monitor the progress of key strategic initiatives. These reports were built using R, SQL, and Tableau and have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.During this time, I also provided data and insights to fuel sales competitions. My responsibilities were to (1) identify metrics that related with our top-level company objectives, (2) calibrate the investment of different competitions to ensure maximum ROI, and (3) manage the reporting and communication to sales reps and teams to maintain a high level of engagement.

During my internship and subsequent part-time work at Qualtrics, I worked with our Sales Performance Management team to analyze and take action on sales data. I worked on a series of strategic projects in R, SQL, and Tableau. Example projects include (1) cleaning and visualizing data related to our win-loss program to guide sales and product strategy, (2) developing models to understand and predict attrition in the sales organization, and (3) supporting a data-driven "Moneyball" approach to assess performance in the sales funnel through prospecting to won deals.

I teach Python for data science through BYU's Marriott School of Management. As a working data scientist at one of Utah's fastest-growing tech companies, I make it a point to teach in a way that will lead to successful careers, not just academic achievement.

I worked closely with the coaches of the BYU Women's Soccer team to help improve offensive efficiency. My main contribution to the team was a shot scoring model that helped players know when and how to shoot. We saw dramatic increases in overall scoring and scoring efficiency in the time I spent with the team.

I tutored student athletes in basic statistics and math courses. Introductory statistics courses are required for a wide variety of majors at BYU, so I've had the opportunity to tutor athletes from a variety of sports with a variety of career plans. I loved the challenge of presenting the information to them in a way that is interesting to them personally. This job was a perfect combination of two of my favorite things in life: statistics and teaching.
