As an undergraduate intern in Dr. Daniel Hollern’ lab at the Salk institute I cemented the interest in cancer research I developed in classes at UC San Diego by doing work on triple negative breast cancer mouse models and cancer immunotherapies. In doing so I learned various molecular and cellular biology techniques, gained a stronger understanding of cancer biology and immunology as they happen outside of a classroom, and developed my organizational skills, as well as mouse handling and colony management practices.Upon graduating from UC San Diego in June 2023 I moved to the lab of Dr. Diana Hargreaves. There my work centers on epigenetic regulators and their impacts in various contexts such as cancer, cancer immunotherapy response, disease, immune cell activation and proliferation, and cell signaling. In this lab I have furthered my knowledge in the fields of cancer biology, immunology and molecular and cellular biology, and have learned new molecular and cellular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA library prep, have improved my use and understanding of mice as a model organism for cancer, and have begun performing data analysis through the use of programs such as RStudio and FloJo.
