Engineering Design Intern
CurrentMy primary role at Dual Drinks is a Designer, here I use my skills in the SolidWorks Computer-aided Design Software, where I am a Certified Associate, to help model, design, and test the limitations of the product. This includes testing Thermal, Stress, and Displacement evaluations and the limitations of the cup itself. A challenge we encountered was the size of the cup, originally planned to be a minimum amount of fluid ounces as directed by our manager and the stability of the stainless steel when it went through the vacuum-sealing stage. I was able to visualize the stress and deformation of the cup using the Solidworks application to see where the most amount of stress was being placed. Instead of having a flat wall member that could easily be deformed, curved member was added into the flat wall to provide more stability. The height of the cup was also modified to allow for more volume to offset the addition of the curve for more stability. The ability to run multiple simulations allowed the team to adjust the design to achieve the desired results.
