I am an active freelancer, oboe teacher, and chamber music instructor in the Chicago area, after recently relocating from Boston in August of 2023. As a performer, I was named the 2014 winner of the Boston Woodwind Society's Ralph Gomberg Oboe Competition, and in 2017 was hailed by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as a "confident and sensitive player" for a performance of the Mozart Oboe Quartet with Symphony Nova. As a chamber musician, I'm a current member of the Kalliope Reed Quintet, the first professional reed quintet in New England and one of the first 50 reed quintets worldwide. As an orchestral musician in Boston for the last ten years, I held positions with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the Cape Ann Symphony and the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, and frequently performed with Symphony New Hampshire, the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Vista Philharmonic, and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra as well as other orchestras throughout New England.I am equally passionate as a performer and an educator. I love teaching oboe and chamber music to students of all ages (including adults) and levels, and believes in a student-centered approach to learning, where students' goals and strengths guide curriculum and lesson structure. I currently teach oboe at South Suburban College, Niles West High School, Oak Forest High School, and Tinley Park High school.I believe it is important that all people participate in music in one form or another. Learning an instrument teaches us how to work well with others, listen attentively, think critically, be creative, work hard, and challenge ourselves. These are all skills that transcend the mere ability to play an instrument; they are what turn us into well-rounded, passionate, and successful people. I take it as my duty to inspire, fulfill, encourage, and challenge my students--and my audiences--at all times so that we may positively impact each others' lives.
