I love puzzles. It's what drove me to a career in strategic finance. I never expected to be a third-generation accountant, but when taking my first accounting class I realized, "I get this!" I can see how all the debits and credits work together to complete the financial puzzle. Before graduating from the #1 accounting school in the nation, UT-Austin, I decided I didn't want to work for big firms, but rather stick with smaller companies so I could gain a breadth of knowledge and hands-on experience in multiple facets of a business. I have spent my career wearing various hats from accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, operations, sales, and strategic planning. I'm the one the CEO looks to for stability and direction. I know how to right the ship and move it forward.While my career has lead me to many industries, the tech industry seems to be what I'm drawn to most. I was in SaaS before it even had a name. I worked with E&Y to help determine best practices for revenue recognition in a new tech startup. You could say that when it comes to SaaS, I'm a pioneer. I'm drawn to companies that need my help for sustainable growth. Fresh out of graduate school, in my first company I accelerated in my duties, partly out of necessity, as the company experienced rapid growth expanding its operating footprint by more than 3x, headcount by 2.5x, and annual revenues increased 66% over three years. Later as a key executive, I helped Oakley Networks raise VC investment capital, manage its rapid growth from $1M to $16M in revenues and 20 to 180+ employees, secured bank financings, and positioned us for a very successful exit to Raytheon. I joined one company as their CFO in its early stages and I established processes and laid the critical foundations for what is now a multi-billion dollar tech unicorn. These are just a few of many examples where I have played a critical role in a company's need for strategic and profitable growth. Currently, I work for a company that has personally been my biggest business turnaround success yet! Within one year I was able to implement new processes, cut costs, and restore profitability such that the company swung from a massive 50% loss to a 10% profit. This year we are projecting a sustained healthy profit.I'm always looking for more companies that can use my expertise to grow and achieve their goals.
