Co-Founder & Vice President Of Technology

Bwe (Dba Rushmoredrive.Com)

In 2005, Barry Diller’s IAC acquired Ask.com (formerly AskJeeves) to take on Google and Yahoo. Two years after the acquisition, and a failed $100 million marketing campaign, IAC had yet to make a dent in consumer’s minds. We were challenged by Mr. Diller to create a new business to take market share from the leading search providers, where each percentage point was $1 billion in revenue. As Co-Founder and Vice President of Technology, I helped conceive of the concept and algorithm, helped with the day-to-day operations, and guided the overall technical direction of the business. • Actively involved in creating the RushmoreDrive.com concept. Over the course of several months and many different concepts, the CEO and I settled on creating the first of its kind Identity Search engine where the results were based on a user’s demographics: race, gender, SOGI, etc. The technology would deliver everything that a user would find on Google or Yahoo plus an added layer of relevancy. • Led product development from initial concept to production in 8 months. To reach this goal, coordinated a 23-member team across 5 cities, 3 countries and 2 continents. This launch team consisted of internal resources, contractors, and consultants and resulted in an on-time, on-budget launch of RushmoreDrive.com.• Used focus groups to gauge consumer reaction to our Identity Search concept and the look and feel of our website.• Ensured that the technology group could properly meet the needs of business by setting priorities between development, maintenance and operating goals.• Vetted and selected technology using cost/benefit analysis• Promoted the company by giving personal interviews in print, radio and television outlets including: New York Times, Fox News, NPR affiliate WFAE, Newsweek, WSJ, Wired, USA Today, Bloomberg, Jupiter Research, and The Gartner Group.• RushmoreDrive statistics:o Pageviews: +26Mo Avg. unique users / month: ~436Ko Avg. searches / month: ~2M (May 2009)

Technology Development Manager

Getsmart, A Subsidiary Of Lendingtree

Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Assembled a team of developers and instituted a form of Agile software development, which decreased the time it took to get new functionality to market, as well as lowered the amount of defects that reached production. This common sense approach to software development eventually became the benchmark for LendingTree and its various divisions. • Asked by the General Manager of GetSmart and the CIO of LendingTree to run GetSmart as if it were a completely separate business unit. This allowed me to become nearly completely autonomous and create a software development process appropriate for the needs of the business. The result was quicker delivery of project milestones to production, better relations between business and technology, and a foundation that other business units at LendingTree would eventually follow.• Participated in the first ever definition, development and roll-out of Agile processes and procedures which were unique to the GetSmart division• Worked with team members to enforce defined processes, milestones and deliverables.• Hired, managed and lead an application development team of 10 members consisting of ASP/.Net developers, database developers and project manager.

2004 - Jun 2007

Technical Lead Developer

Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Responsible for heading development efforts of a ten member development team performing development and support of the Lender accessible website (APEX) for lead management and account administration.• Directed project team of 10 development resources to re-architect the APEX website into a .NET framework from classic ASP and VB6, due to it’s poor performance. Stabilized the platform for over 200 lenders and internal account managers, producing faster response times and better usability.• Co-Inventor and technical author for LendingTree’s second patent (US Pat. 10828649 - Filed Apr 21, 2004 - LendingTree, Inc.). This patent allowed LendingTree to create a marketplace of hopeful consumers that had not been paired with the maximum number of lenders• Co-Author of LendingTree’s core architecture used for all borrower facing sites. The architecture, a structured set of rules for using ASP, XML and XSL, effectively brought Object Oriented thought principles to classic ASP. The framework, developed in 2001, was still the core architecture throughout 2008.• Lead developer for projects that contain two to 10 developers and last up to six months in scope• Ensured timely delivery of projects and exceeded predefined QA standards

Norstan Consulting

Technology consulting firm for:Access Coverage Corp – Originally formed to be an online insurance exchange for small businesses• Created OCRA (Online Claims Reporting Application) – This tool allowed the various insurance vendors to view any reports, both static and dynamic, on the system. Based on the volume of users, and to preserve system stability, a service was created to schedule and generate reports.• The production ready code was originally built for demonstration purposes only and never actually meant to be released to the general public. I helped rewrite their existing code, along with the corresponding technical documentation, to support and enhance their architecture.
