Sell Side Equity Research in the Oilfield Services and Drilling Sector. Responsibilities included: - making formal Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations on as many as 30 equities- producing regular written product to keep investors informed about these companies' and their competitors' activities and financial performance as well as general industry trends, valuation, new product development and the financial health of the industry overall- maintaining an active calendar of phone conversations and in-person meetings with equity and credit investors, including from mutual funds and hedge funds, to field their questions, present our analysis and make investment recommendations- conducting regular conversations with Oilfield Services industry participants, including private companies, to keep abreast of their developments and seek additional insight into company-specific or other events that were impacting the industry- managing a team of as many as three analysts- leading the Energy Equity Research teams, for which responsibilities included coordinating joint research papers, conferences and marketing efforts with other sell side energy analyst teams within Jefferies and keeping Jefferies Equities management appraised of our actionsNotable research topics:- Advances in drilling automation- Rising U.S. completions intensity- Growth of effective supply in hydraulic fracturing - The merits of the integrated services model- Rich valuations for equities persisted through downturn
