Survey TechnicianEskom Jan 2000 - Jun 2004Power line Surveyor, in this position I carried the responsibilities of a Senior Survey Technician. These responsibilities included, negotiating with land owners for rights of way for power lines, acquisition of rights to build sub-stations, surveying routes and designing power lines, doing tache surveys of potential substation sites and completing as-built surveys. The position required extensive travel and compelled one to remain self-motivated and driven. Whilst in this position I Negotiated and designed several power lines, some of which were only completed a few years after I left ESKOM. The lead time between surveying and starting a project was often several years. I was also responsible for assisting in training interns to the Pietermaritzburg office.
