For over 20 years now I have been involved within the printing industry and seen many changes to the process in which the "printed word" has been put onto paper. From my beginning going through a planning platemaking apprenticeship through to my current position of Digital Director here at Colorscan.Having the background I do in pre-press enables me now to guide clients and sometimes a bit of hand holding to get the best and most cost effective way in producing a variety of work including large format and exhibition work.Also having been involved in digital technology from almost inception, I have acquired a wide knowledge of the machinery and options available in an ever changing market. Having joined at the beginning of 2008 , I found a company that was full of potential with a decent client base. We have managed to bring the company forward a long way in a relatively short space of time from offering mainly large format work to now boasting x 2 Digital presses that offer very different options.The Xeikon which is still the only digital press on the market that can produce A2 posters and 6pp work to the very impressive Xerox700 with 2400 dpi imaging for stock weights up to 350 gsm. With this portfolio we can handle a full digital print campaign that can offer unique data imaging as well.

Taking complete job briefs from clients then preparing accurate estimates and ensuring the job was then placed into production and completed and despatched on time and to a high standard. Upon completion keep client fully informed of PoDs and any other relevant information.

Croxsons entered into the Digital market with the acquisition an IBM Infocolor 320. The technology at the time was very new and took some to bed in along with the re-education of our existing litho clients. 3 years on a New 500 DCP was purchased and improvements in the technology and the size of print available opened up huge opportunities. The Digital Dept was my full responsibility that included the training of new staff, purchasing, quoting, finishing and distribution. All attributes that have helped me in my current position.

having completed my apprenticeship as 4 Colour Planner/ Platemaker. Soon after the introduction of Macs and DTP saw a move into the production area for the magazine titles we held. After a couple of years in this area the Digital Press came into my life....
