Having visited close to 100 countries to date, I am on a journey of continuous learning that is both personally and professionally fulfulling. An adventure that has enabled the development of more lifelong skills. There are countless situations experienced that, combined together, translate to being an effective and inspiring leader as well as developing the ability to problem solve or create some real value in any situation. I'm a firm believer that life experience counts for a lot in order to be a great leader. It allows you to draw on this experience, to deal with the various situations that get thrown your way, in any type of environment.Long term travel provides many opportunities that include:- learning a second language,- understanding different cultures (eg. living with a local in a foreign country)- non verbal communication skills (when you don't speak the same language),- learning to think on your feet- keeping a positive and solutions based mindset when things do not go as planned,- learn to manage cashflow,- negotiation skills andmany more.Whilst on the road I have also completed some consulting work focused mainly around cashflow analysis, financial modelling and building tools to help growing businesses succeed. From setting up management accounts, to analysing and assisting businesses manage their cashflow. This time out has allowed me the time to develop some useful tools that could be of great benefit to growing businesses.

One wise person once told me that 'life is short and the world is wide and you will only experience great things when you step outside of your comfort zone'. With that advice in mind, my wife and I had a dream to travel the world, challenge ourselves and experience what this great planet has to offer (both good and bad). Not only that, we wanted to meet people from all walks of life and learn about the many different cultures that exist and hopefully come away wiser people for it.To say this adventure was a valuable and life changing experience is an understatement. From volunteering in Cambodia, teaching English, to trekking to the top of Kala Patthar (5545m) on the Everest Base camp trail we have certainly stepped outside that comfort zone both mentally and physically. This as well as several other experiences throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East & Eastern Europe has opened our eyes to so many things that otherwise would not have been possible had we stayed within our comfort zone. The world is a magnificent place that everyone out there should see and appreciate and we feel very humbled that we had the opportunity to undertake such an incredible adventure.
