For the most part I’ve worked with Canadian independent publishers plus contract representation for the Canadian market with a major US publisher. We all benefit from the use of tech, I also believe the work benefits enormously from relationship internal and external, the personal has been key to my success.In my current role I manage accounts large and small, chain and non, wholesalers, online and corporate markets both US and Canada. My role also includes collaborating on custom book projects from concept to delivery ensuring adherence to client branding, specifications and timelines.For those in the industry we all know Canadian publishing can be resource challenged, while my primary work has been to raise and expand revenue my roles have also included marketing, managing and designing advertising, copywriting, coordinating catalogue production, working with media/events, I've assisted in a distribution move and helped wind down a house—I've had roles with a narrow focus and others quite the opposite, I enjoy a collaborative team approach to work.During a sabbatical from publishing for parent care I obtained my real estate license, currently I do not actively trade but I do leverage my real estate background maintaining a network of realtor connections to facilitate referrals in various Ontario markets—GTA/Hamilton, Niagara, London, Ottawa, cottage country.
