Full-scope financial responsibilities included: month-end close & annual accounts; financial & non-financial reporting; investor, bank & board relations; fundraising; tax preparation; cash forecasting; short-term budgeting & long-term strategic planning; monthly rolling forecast, and strategic business cases. For operations: legal, regulatory, tech products, and HR. The team was also responsible for the unit economics of our portfolio and collaborated to secure a profitable gross margin on future & current products.

I built and led the Business Control team, and together we created and drive budget ownership across the business. I partnered with leaders at every level and in every function to empower decision-making, identify & challenge solutions, and learn, grow & improve. Accomplishments included: working with department heads to implement the first ever zero-based budget, creating the cash flow forecast and proactively managing cash in a scale-up environment, and establishing the framework for reporting monthly budget-to-actuals and financial performance to management and the board.

I was the Finance lead for business development and new business innovations, partnering with leaders across multiple divisions to drive growth through innovation. This included cyber security game-changers in industries like automotive, rail and construction equipment. I sat on the leadership team of two business units and provided financial oversight for new business cases as well as strategic recommendations for my leadership partners. From the FP&A side, I defined and facilitated the monthly rolling forecast process; managed the team accountable for finance systems, management reporting and business partnering; and worked closely with our financial controllers to ensure adherence to IFRS in both our forecasts and actual results.

Partnering closely with HR, Supply Chain, Sales, & finance business services, I was responsible for planning, reporting & analyzing the OpEx & CapEx forecasts across three countries. I rebuilt & redefined overhead management by creating a rolling 2-year FTE analysis & enabling data-driven reorg decisions. Highlights include, among others, driving sustainable travel savings of 1,2m EUR & playing a key finance role in the merger of two major divisions within the business.

Following Amazon’s $775M acquisition of Kiva Systems in 2012, I helped with short- and long-term acquisition transition objectives.During my time there, I streamlined accounting processes to reduce the month-end close by 2 days and eliminate the need for an additional accounting position. By working through complex AR discrepancies, I negotiated the receipt of $2M bad debt. In addition to my accounting tasks, I built a global budget tool for 30+ fulfilment centers, tracked over $835M CapEx, and analyzed intercompany net sales all the way to the product level.
