Brad Klopfenstein has been an influential leader in Indiana’s public policy and political community for the past 25 years. His areas of expertise include the alcohol industry, hospitality, gambling, election law, energy, media relations, small business affairs, & crisis management.As President of the Greater Lawrence Chamber, Klopfenstein has shown his love of Indiana small businesses, & works daily on behalf of those business owners to help improve their businesses and the conditions which will allow them to be successful. Some of his professional successes include:-Advocated for & passed expanded Sunday & Election Day alcohol sales for bars in Indiana-Organized coalition that legalized pull tab gambling in Indiana-Built coalition of veterans who support the Keystone XL Pipeline project-Defeated proposed increases in alcohol and food & beverage taxes-Revived Indiana beer brands Alps Brau, Circle City Beer, Nickel Plate Beer, K.G. Schmidt’s, & Indianapolis Brewing Company (which he has since sold to Sun King)Mr. Klopfenstein is also a media figure in Indiana. For over 6 years, he has been a regular radio guest-host for 93.1 WIBC in Indianapolis, and has been a featured panelist on the television show Indiana Lawmakers. He has conducted media training for the US Women’s Olympic Synchronized Swimming team & IndyCar racing drivers Justin Wilson and Mike Conway. He currently is a panelist on the public affairs television show Indiana Issues, & is one-half of the popular podcast Merritt in the Morning.Klopfenstein took a somewhat serpentine route into the world of politics & public affairs. A seventh-generation Hoosier, his is a graduate of Purdue University. His early work included being a restaurant manager, beer salesman, & radio ad salesman for Q95/X103/WNDE. An interest in politics led him to apply for, & be hired as Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of Indiana. Success in that position allowed him to become Executive Director of the Indiana Licensed Beverage Association where he stayed until going off on his own to create Magna Carta Public Affairs.In addition to his public affairs work, he is a past-president of the Indianapolis Press Club, served 2 terms on the Indianapolis Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals, & is President of the City of Lawrence Stormwater Advisory Board. He was also the Indiana Lt. Governor nominee alongside reality TV personality Rupert Bonham, but may be best know for “accidently” bootlegging Yuengling into Indiana prior to it legally being available here. He is very sorry for that transgression.
