I worked in Public Safety for eight years. I began my career immediately following college, and have worked in a number of uniquely diverse divisions. I began as a corrections officer where I gained experience in professional communication, and conflict resolution. I was promoted to Deputy Sheriff where I worked in the patrol division, as well as special investigations. These experiences provided me the opportunity to routinely implement high stress decision-making, personnel coordination, and cross-function cooperation. My most recent role was focused on evidence collection, processing, storage, and dispositions. In this role I have gained expertise in proper time management and organization. I have implemented practices within the evidence bureau which have reduced our inventory by approximately 16%, and have enhanced our active evidence management processes. During my eight years in public safety I have supplemented my daily job duties by voluntarily becoming a state certified law enforcement instructor. I have been the lead instructor in a number of four and eight hour block training sessions within my department. I believe strongly in people-centered leadership and empowering subordinates which creates a sense of pride and ultimately improves productivity.
