This role enables me to experience a wide range of electronic design engineering, from creating circuits from basic principles, PCB layouts, reducing manufacturing costs and failures of the PCBAs to supporting the product once it has been released. In this role I have performed the following: Develop and prototype new DC/DC power converter circuits and lithium battery management systems, utilising Altium for schematic and PCB layout, and actively implementing EMI/EMC measures to ensure compliance with relevant standards. Working closely with Mechanical Engineers in an iterative process to ensure that the enclosure for the products meets the needs of the circuit, such as heat sinking or wire harnesses, as well as ensuring that the product will look and feel in line with the company branding and reputation. Designed PCBs for manufacture to minimise production time and rework. Participate in EMI/EMC testing of the finalised product and identify ways to mitigate the emissions of the product to ensure a pass for the relevant standard. Work with manufacturing to identify ways to reduce build time of products, resulting in higher cost savings/margin for the product. Test and investigate prototypes/products for bugs and design issues and perform root cause analysis of reason for failure, then implement solutions to overcome these issues. Perform stress testing of PCBs and products utilising an AGREE chamber for vibration and temperature performance, a HALT chamber for vibration and temperature stress testing and analysis, as well as climatic chambers for humidity and temperature testing and validation. Worked on automation of functional testing for products as a test and validation engineer. During this role I implemented a modular test jig that was capable of using different equipment, depending on resource availability. Alongside this test jig, a software package was also created to interact with all of the equipment and record data and make informed decisions about the functionality of the device under test based on this information.

I took part in a three month vacation employment with Ergon Energy and Energex, working with the customer connection team. In this team we focused on PV (solar) applications to connect to the Energex network as well as improving a motor start calculator which determined the voltage drop on the network when a motor was started.
