As a previous State of Michigan water quality regulator, I had the opportunity to coordinate with hundreds of municipalities with populations ranging from hundred to hundreds of thousands. This resulted in billions of dollars worth of investment that will improve Michigan's water infrastructure. Not only will local communities benefit from these municipal investments, but this impact will improve water quality all over Michigan. Some additional responsibilities include: • Led EGLE’s 2023 NPDES Permitting Strategy for PFAS through collaboration with Emerging Pollutant Section within Water Resources Division (WRD) and developed PFAS language now being implemented within the Department’s permits statewide • Developed, negotiated, and drafted permits in compliance with federal and state laws for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program• Provided technical assistance to diverse stakeholders (citizens, local governments, tribal communities, businesses, non-profit groups, and state agencies) regarding wastewater regulatory issues• Trained 1/3 of municipal permit staff and developed annual guidance within on federal and state requirements for the NPDES program • Organized and facilitated public hearings to address concerns and enhance public engagement on proposed projects
