Creative and passionate multi-disciplinary Nanoscientist;I strongly believe that through the pursuit of knowledge we have the potential to benefit society without compromising the environment. Through opportunities to connect with Industry, Academia and Government I hope to better my knowledge, skills and professional network.Undergraduate studies have given me hands on experience in physics and chemistry laboratories with a broad knowledge base inclusive of biochemistry. Unlike a typical bachelor of science, the nanotechnology course delivered a diverse range of specialised subjects; nanochemistry, nanofabrication, material characterisation, synchrotron science and sensors/devices. I went on to conduct postgraduate research at La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science in the analytical lab, specialising in the photophysics and electrochemistry of luminescent materials for sensing applications. Under the guidance of Dr. Conor Hogan, I investigated the energetic requirements for electrochemiluminescence on transition metal complexes (TMCs), synthesised visible and near-infrared quantum dots (QDs) and studied energy transfer systems for multiplex immunoassay detection. Having the opportunity to travel around Australia and internationally for conferences, during this time, has helped to develop my presenting skills and shape ideas with experts from a variety of fields.My passion for science extends beyond research: I enjoying teaching and consider myself to be a natural leader, patient and compassionate, receiving enjoyment from guiding undergraduate students as well as assisting fellow postgraduates. In my spare time, I like to keep fit and support the community by regularly donating blood. By working with the community and driving innovation I hope to build a better tomorrow.
