  • Northwestern University
    Undergraduate Honors Program Research
    Northwestern University May 2022 - Mar 2023
    Evanston, Illinois, United States
    - Researched rotorcraft aerodynamics including blade element theory, actuator disk theory, and interactions between two contra-rotating, coaxial rotors. - To better understand how these rotorcraft work, particularly in the region between the two rotors, I wanted to explore the relationship of the distance between the rotors and the resulting change of velocity and pressure in that region of interest. - Used ANSYS Fluent to do comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis on two contra-rotating, coaxial rotors in a defined medium. From this series of 3D simulations, I demonstrated how velocity streamlines, velocity contours, and pressure contours change in the region between the rotors and the surrounding medium as the distance between the rotors increases.
