My experience at The Standard has been one of similar experiences and one of new. Mornings at the bar are the typical setup, difference being each morning it is the bartender's duty to travel down into the depths of the hotel to the Purchasing Department to gather the extra products for back stock. Shifts are usually slow which gives me the opportunity to meet and talk with the guests of the hotel. Guests come from all around the world, they are always interested in sitting at the bar and having good conversations. My goal is to give our guests the best possible service they can experience so that when they visit the states they think of The Standard first.

West Hollywood

The Dime in West Hollywood has been a challenging bar to work at to say the least, and I love that about it. The staff is great to work with and essential to the operations of the bar when the place is jam-packed wall to wall. Small in area but huge in energy its nearly impossible to hear the customers when placing orders, lip reading is the basic form of communication and supersonic speed is needed to keep up with the orders. Speed is key to the customer service but the integrity of drinks are never in danger.

The Red Door is a restaurant, casino, karaoke bar, live entertainment and lounge all rolled up in one. Tending the bar you encounter people from all walks of life just looking for a place to unwind. Whether its a business man after work or rancher after a day in the fields everyone at this establishment is looking to get rowdy. A mixture of questionable abilities to sing a common song and heavy drinking can cause the crowd to be quite difficult in many situations, its just a matter of knowing how to properly tend the bar amongst the insanity and making sure the glasses are filled and the smiles keep smiling.
