• Safety & Occupational Health. As Squadron Safety Petty Officer (and Certified Navy Instructor), I was responsible for all aspects of ground safety within the command. Activities included reviewing, developing, training and maintaining site related health and safety documents (plans, procedures, and standards). Performed site inspections to include the identification of unsafe work practices and conditions, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling of hazardous material (HAZMAT / MSDS), and enforcement of all safety compliance policies and procedures (OSHA, DoD, Squadron), initiating corrective action when needed. Performed accident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensured the proper and timely submission of injury incidence reports. Delivered effective email and memorandum staff communications and training on workplace hazard identification and prevention, along with coordinating with facility maintenance staff to remove such hazards. Facilitated regular safety meetings, including agenda and training in Ergonomic Awareness, Sexual Harassment, Equal Opportunity, Diversification in the Work Place, and On the Job Training (OJT).. Also performed on and off duty recreational safety training for 42 military members.
