About Bradley Mattan
I am a user experience researcher with a passion for integrating research into product strategy in a way that answers both "what do users want?" and also "what design/product direction is best for the business?" I'm not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom as long as I have the data to back it up.I also believe in continuous discovery research as a great way for stakeholders to keep a pulse on the customer, who many times see the world quite differently. Continuous discovery interviews also afford great opportunities for getting quick feedback on new ideas. In general, my process is as follows:1) Understand the core decisions my stakeholders need to make, whether this is a seemingly simple design decision or a strategic product decision. This works most fluidly when the researcher is embedded in a core stakeholder team, but it can and should be done when working with newer stakeholders.2) I dig into existing data (e.g., GA, Fullstory, etc.) and competitive analysis and then share what we already know.3) I design, execute, analyze, and summarize a user research project that brings the right methods to answer the right questions at the right time.4) I work with stakeholders to build consensus around a decision informed by the research.Qualitative research skills: I have experience using the following methods in the context of qualitative or mixed-methods studies: moderating in-depth interviews (remote and in person), usability studies (moderated and unmoderated), online diary studies (using dscout, Indeemo), and medical device validation studies.Quantitative research skills: I have a unique set of competencies in methodology (reaction-time-based tasks, neuroimaging), analysis (multi-level models and classic regression/ANOVA, geospatial data) and programming (R, Python, SQL). In my current role, I have become a go-to resource for Fullstory. Much of my learning has been and continues to be self-directed.In my former professional life as an academic, my research interests included how we social status in others and the consequences of status perception the way we evaluate and pay attention to others. I also studied the relationship between social rank, exposure to unequal environments, and health outcomes such as smoking
Listed skills include Research, Spss, Analysis, Grant Writing, and 18 others.
