This role initially involved finding unique, eye-catching ways of transitioning and presenting the ad copy for the videos' sponsors. After a few months, we started working with the new host of the videos creating more traditional YouTube sponsored segments.This role involves a very tight turnaround with a lot of communication and teamwork. For the earlier spots, we did a lot of green screen and compositing work to vary the styles and themes. The later spots focus more on pacing through careful editing of a longer shoot. Show less

I was originally hired as a Customer Assistant, but before my probation period had even ended I was selected by the Management staff to be promoted. After spending over six months as a manager, I requested to return to my previous position so I could reduce my hours and focus more on my freelance work.During my time as a Shift Manager, I was responsible for making sure that the shift is run smoothly and effectively. I monitored the quality of the ingredients and the presentation of the food given to customers, as well as participating in the day to day running alongside my staff. I had cash management duties, stock counting/ordering responsibilities and much more.An unforeseen result of becoming a manager was that I had more control and say over the back of house procedures and since the promotion, have massively improved the way things are run. Being of the most computer literate among the staff, I reorganised the files on the computer in the office to make its use more streamlined. I also created documents to fill gaps in the day to day practices, such as paperwork to more accurately count waste, a staff request sheet and a maintenance document (which I have been informed is going to be used in all of the franchisees Taco Bell restaurants in the country). I also got the opportunity to suggest promotions and marketing strategies to upper management for our store, which I did by creating prototype artwork which would be displayed in the store. For budgetary reasons, these ideas have not yet been implemented but I've been told that they are still the subject of positive discussion amongst the corporate representatives. Show less

Every month, So Far Sounds invites musicians to play at "secret" shows around the world. I had the pleasure of being part of a camera crew filming some of these shows and editing them to be used on the So Far Sounds Youtube channel. The filming itself was paid work, but I volunteered to edit the videos so I could get some experience matching and editing together a live shoot.I was very limited when it came to equipment during these shows and the locations were often far from convenient.… Show more Every month, So Far Sounds invites musicians to play at "secret" shows around the world. My first show was in a small room with 30 guests, and it was illuminated only by a small diffuse light in front of the musician (which I requested) and some string lights on the rear wall. Rather than be disappointed with the outcome of this first show, it taught me a very valuable lesson about what is required to salvage a shoot in inadequate locations. My tasks included selling tickets and food to the customers, cleaning the screens and foyers in-between films and assisting the customers throughout the day. I spent most of my shifts working on the hawking trolley selling snacks and drinks to customers waiting for their screenings to start. The reason I found myself doing this so frequently is because I had an aptitude for selling from the trolley which led to our cinema having the best hawking figures in the entire country. Whether it was through presentation, timing or sales patter I do not know, but I was incredibly proud of this achievement and spent some of my time before leaving Vue trying to train other members of staff to match my sales. I mixed cement, brought necessary tools to the workers and kept the equipment and location clean. I also painted the guttering and drainpipes of a two-storey house.I really had to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of due to the physically demanding work I was given.

I primarily worked on the checkouts, operating manual and self-service machines. I would also assist around the store, tidying the shelves and helping customers.I had to be very adaptable, moving between departments and having a constantly shifting role. I was trusted to be very self-reliant.
