Designed systems architecture including network architecture, software deployment, and systems reliability.- Created rake program that generates cloud formation templates that layout a standardized PCI compliant VPC in AWS. - Created over 18 data centers in AWS.- MPLS Direct connect brought up between Sears existing data centers and Amazon Web Services.These network services fully enable Sears to be able to use AWS as a PCI compliant extension to the main Sears data centers. As Sears takes on challenges of implementing networking segmentation in their data centers, they can use AWS data centers to create additional staging areas.- Worked on Java notifications application built on RabbitMQ, using Twilio and mandrill to achieve immediate - Implemented test Ansible, and puppet management systems.- Implemented many aspects of system uptime monitoring, rsyslogd, papertrail, new relic and OMD/Nagios.- Implemented complex Software Defined Networking routing layer that allowed VPN to route traffic to Sears while allowing our AWS data centers to have a much wider range of IP addresses.

Worked with Lexus Incorporated. We moved a very large application from a stand alone data center to the AWS cloud. Interesting problems:- Tuned Linux and Solr instances to achieve performance of dedicated hardware.- Worked with AWS engineers fixing a number of SR-IOV issues. SR-IOV allows servers to access the SDN network and the disks at super high rate.- VPN and Direct Connect were established between existing data center and AWS built data center. - All data movement was fully automated including custom java applications to maintain data synchronization.- Cut over was made with minutes of downtime.- Moved over 40Tb of data storage, and indexed search.Lexus is saving $500k a year using the virtual AWS environment, and have greatly improved their performance, their ability to scale, and overall security.

Built the first ever Web based internet bank account management system. This early ASP.net, COM+ supported numerous channels of access for a banks customers, including dial-in, web, phone and allowed for additional applications to be integrated.Built a Commercial Banking system that allowed commercial banks to tightly manage their customers banking activity, allocate cost bases, and manage customers using advanced predictive algorithms that predicted customers that might be considering leaving the bank, or customers that could result in additional business for the bank.Built team from 5 to 45. Sold in 1999 to Fidelity Information Systems.

Built the first ever Mastercard fraud detection network. Built customer network drivers to allow unix/AT&T mainframe to work with IBM 360 communications buses. Read Mastercard Mainframe network at 32Gbps. System analyzed each customer transaction and compared that transaction against a computed behavioral model. Several behavioral models could be competed against each other. A Kalman filter at the end would combine the behavioral model outputs and could be tuned to determine which behavioral system was more correct.Worked with Walmart to get their first version of their data warehouse. Built connectivity to existing POS, inventory systems. Worked with Levi's and other large walmart customers on how they could use the data manage their business better.

Helped build team from 4 to 75 engineers. Worked with large innovative companies that were looking to implement client-server to replace their mainframe applications. Worked with Maritz travel, modernizing applications. Worked on switch control software that eventual became the user interface for Cisco routers.Company grew to 450 employees and was acquired by Avanade.

Worked on Displays controller which integrated digital flight data along, digital sensor data, radar data, and analog video data streams into a coherent pilot view. Worked with bus interfaces from AP-1R central computer to Displays systems. Helped resolve major system issues with chip integration and debug several hard bus/ASIC problems. Worked with Hughes on the radar processor and resolving issues that were causing problems in integration.
