Responsible for data storage and the Unix hardware infrastructure within the MBDA Data Centres.

Responsible for thirteen Unix System Administrators in a very busy environment, ten of whom are based off-shore in India. I review and manage budgets, carry out appraisals, set objectives, recruit, organise training and do general day to day man management in a multi project leading role.

Responsible for 8 x Computer Operations Analysts and 3 x OS390 Systems Programmers. The teams are responsible for change & release management, overnight batch processing and support of the AS400, OS/390 mainframe, UNIX platforms and the Brocade/CISCO Storage Area Network and provide 7 x 24 hour support

The Service Delivery Manager role involved the planning, design, and implementation of IT operational support for all aspects of the PC City website and the newly deployed stores in France. This role involved the set-up of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), disaster recovery and support processes, ensuring that operational teams are trained before the official support handover. Both projects had tight deadlines, which required proactive management and monitoring in order to ensure a successful delivery.

I managed 3 support teams: Branch Support, PC Support and Network Support. These teams consisted of twenty-three staff, who provided a 24 hour support rota for their own support area.

I managed a team of 27 staff, with a range of skill levels and experience. The team offered 1st line Incident Management to a business agreed SLA. The diagnosis and fault fix solution was 70% of all incoming calls with the remaining 30% passed to the correct 2nd line support teams.

The main computer room for DSGi used to be located in Stevenage where all the processing for the group was done. I managed a team of 12 Computer Operators, who covered a 24 hour shift rota. They were responsible for monitoring all the computer room hardware, responding to tape mounts and monitoring the overnight batch work, which consisted of about 5,000 jobs per night across 3 platforms.I was responsible for organising the installation of all hardware into the computer room which included, the power, network, SAN and gigabit connectivity. This also included the ongoing support of all hardware within the computer roomMy biggest achievement during this role was to manage the relocation of the computer room. This involved the design of the new premises and the planning of the hardware migration.

Shift work monitoring the computer systems, fixing or escalating overnight batch issues.

Based at HMS Raleigh, HMS Mercury, HMS Nelson, HMS Invincible, Royal Navy Display Team and finally HMS Beaver.
